Having trouble passing session setup?
A quick guide on how to start a remote monitoring session.
The set-up portion of your session is an important part of your remote monitoring session. This part of monitoring helps us determine beforehand if there are any problems with placement of the band, sensor issues, or any other connectivity issues that may occur. This process usually takes 1-2 mins before the start of your session.
Some quick tips and tricks to note before and during your session:
-
Make sure you have thoroughly cleaned your belly with soap and water and dried well with a towel/cloth
-
Ensure a pea sized amount of gel was applied to the 8 detachable biopotential sensors and that they have not smeared
-
Always monitor in a quiet and calm environment, with minimal noise and interruptions
-
Make sure the round plastic pods are placed as far back as possible on either side of your torso
-
The upper strap should be about 2-3 finger widths above belly button.
-
Check to see that all the sensors are snuggly touching the skin of your belly without any gaps
-
Pick one of the following recommended monitoring positions: lying on your back, reclining, or sitting up straight
If you get the message "We're having trouble setting up your session" follow the in-app prompts to help pass session set-up. These prompts with walk you through adjustments in position or the band placement to optimize signal quality.
A brief overview of the in-app prompts:
-
Try another position and adjust the straps accordingly
-
Choose a different position from the one you originally started in. Then open the front buckles and tighten the upper and lower straps. Do this by pulling one strap with one hand and using the other hand to buckle it until you hear one click. Repeat for all four straps.
-
Click "Ready to try again"
-
-
Remove the band and reapply
a. Read how to put on the band here: How to get ready for a monitoring session
-
Try another position after reapplying the band
-
Adjust the upper front straps 2-3 finger widths above your belly button, tightened straps
-
Adjust the straps but avoid smearing the gel
-
Note: If you've gone through all of the in-app prompts and you feel strong baby movements, wait 15 minutes before trying again.
Listed below are some reasons you might be experiencing signal issues before and during your monitoring session:
Band related:
-
If the band is not properly placed, is not tight enough, not enough gel on the sensors, or overall sensor malfunction: this can interfere with the sensors ability to detect fetal or maternal heart rate.
Connectivity issues:
-
If you are not connected to internet or Bluetooth is disabled: this can disconnect your band from your mobile device in turn interfering and ending your session. Check out the article below on how to connect the band to your INVU app.
Patient/fetal movement:
-
It is important to stay as still as possible during your entire session to ensure a successful monitoring session.
-
Although out of our control, strong fetal movement or fetal position can also affect the quality of the signal.
